Let us see how Command Manifest project item can help create a manifest file for an external Command in the active project of Visual Studio and deploy a test copy of the manifest automatically if necessary.

The Command Manifest project item can be found from the Add New Item window:

The following Command Manifest wizard pages will show up one by one after an addin name is given and the Add button is clicked in the above window:

If the options are set as above, a Command type manifest like the following will be created:

A copy of the manifest will be placed into the current user roaming folder as well and a link be added to the project.
