The Views Editor tool in the Editors tool group of the Project Refinement tool-set can help edit all Revit views in the current model at once, including FloorPlan, CeilingPlan, Elevation, ThreeD, AreaPlan, Section, Detail and so on. When the ribbon button is clicked, the main window will appear as follows.
The Revit Length Unit & Precision group indicates the Revit length unit and precision that is set in the current model.
The Options group specifies some extra control over editing grid cells and columns.
- Apply Change to All Others in the Same Column Except for the X and Name: if all cells under a column such as Discipline should have the same value such as Architectural and to avoid repetitive clicks, this option can be turned on; otherwise off as by default.
- Apply Change to All Chosen Rows Except for the X and Name: if some cells under a column such as Discipline for PlanViews should have the same value such as Architectural and to avoid repetitive clicks, this option can be turned on, the View Type be sorted through clicking its column header, those rows of concern be chosen, and any of the Discipline cells in the chosen rows be changed to Architectural; otherwise off as by default.
Grid Columns:
It lists out all good information of all views in the current model in a central nice place for the sake of edition. All columns are resizable and sortable. The grid is able to scroll both vertically and horizontally. When the whole window is resized, the grid and its columns will be resized automatically. Each row and multiple rows can not selected or deselected in different and convenient ways. Each cell will become editable or read-only based on the current condition to avoid confusions and input errors. Only good candidates will be available to choose for each drop down box. Errors will be checked automatically such as duplicate names and negative scales.
- The Grid Header (the left most area of all rows) can be used to highlight multiple rows through mouse clicking/dragging (+ Ctrl/Shift key if necessary) then choosing Select Highlighted from the right-click context menu.
- The X column is for choosing the view. It is checkable (selectable).
- The Name column indicates the view name. It is editable.
- The Type column indicates the view type as read-only. It is read-only.
- The Title column indicates the view title. It is named by Revit following by its own naming convention thus read-only.
- The Discipline column indicates the discipline of the view. It is changeable if no Template being set; otherwise its value will be adjusted to the template one automatically and the cell become read-only.
- The Phase column indicates the phase of the view. It is changeable.
- The Title on Sheet column indicates the title on sheet for the view. It is editable.
- The Template column indicates the template for the view. It is changeable. Only good template candidates will be available for the View Type such as Section of the view to choose.
- The Display Mode column indicates the display mode of the view. It is changeable if no Template being set; otherwise its value will be adjusted to the template one automatically and the cell become read-only.
- The Detail Level column indicates the detail level of the view. It is changeable if no Template being set; otherwise its value will be adjusted to the template one automatically and the cell become read-only.
- The Parts Visibility column indicates the parts visibility of the view. It is changeable if no Template being set; otherwise its value will be adjusted to the template one automatically and the cell become read-only.
- The Scale column column indicates the scale of the view. It is changeable if no Template being set; otherwise its value will be adjusted to the template one automatically and the cell become read-only. If the scale does not make sense to the view such as 3D, it will be greyed out automatically.
Grid Context Menu:
It will show up if the right mouse button being clicked at some non-editable place such as row headers, column headers and read-only cells.
- Select Highlighted: will select all highlighted rows if any.
- UnSelect Highlighted: will deselect all highlighted rows if any.
- Select All: will select all rows.
- UnSelect All: will deselect all rows.
- Reverse Selection: will reverse the current selection, i.e. selected to become deselected and deselected to selected.
Buttons
- The Erase Chosen button can erase the chosen views from the list and remove them from the model if the OK button being pressed after.
- The Duplicate Chosen button will duplicate the chosen views from the list and create the duplicates into the model if the OK button being pressed after.
- The Export Chosen button will export the information of the chosen views to a web page.
If the OK button (with the green check mark) in the dialog is pressed, the editions will be made into the current model.
If the Cancel button (with a red cross symbol) is pressed, the dialog will be dismissed without doing anything to the Revit model.
