The 2D Placer in the Component Families toolset can find and place any 2D family instances easily from a central place. When the ribbon button is clicked, the following window will appear.
The 2D families and symbols can be filtered with both Revit discipline such as Architectural, Structural and MEP and category type such as Detail Item and Annotation.
After the Revit discipline and category type are selected, the available families will appear in the left list. When such a family is clicked in the list, its all symbols will show up in the right list.
After a family symbol is selected in the list and the Place button pressed, or simply by double clicking a family symbol, the focus will switch to the Revit drawing area to prompt users to insert the family symbol anywhere proper, multiple times if necessary. The placing operation can be finished through pressing the ESC key or choosing the Cancel from the right mouse context menu. When the last placement finishes, the focus will automatically switch back to the window for the next family/symbol selection and placement.
