Editor tool in the Editors drop-down of Family Parameters tool-set helps edit all family parameters in the current family model.
After the button is clicked, it pops up a dialog which allows to edit all parameters at will.
Buttons (from left to right):
- Close: to close the dialog.
- Save: to save parameter changes to the model.
- Export as .txt: to export all parameters to a nicely formatted TXT file so as to print or archive.
- Export as .csv: to export all parameters to a CSV file so as to open and edit in Excel or similar.
- New: to add a new parameter to the list bottom for further editing.
- Erase: to erase those chosen parameter rows from the data grid.
- Examine Issues: to examine all parameters for issues.
- Help: to open its online help in a default Internet Browser.
- About: to show its information.
For Erase command, some parameters need to be chosen first. For Save, Export and Examine commands, all parameters in the grid will participate in.
Grid Columns (from left to right):
- X: to choose the parameter on that row
- Name: parameter name
- Group: parameter UI Group (or Group Under)
- Type: parameter type
- Shared: to indicate whether the parameter is originated from a shared parameter.
- (GU)ID: to indicate the GUID if it is shared, otherwise the ElementID or built-in parameter ID.
- Instance: to indicate whether the parameter is of Instance or Type.
- Reporting: to indicate whether the parameter is for Reporting.
- Value of Current Type: to display the parameter value of the current family type; the Values in Types button can be clicked to edit each value for each family type.
- Formula: the parameter formula
- IsLocked: to indicate whether the parameter is locked or not.
Grid and Status Bar:
- Scrollbar: to scroll up and down parameter rows if too many.
- Data Grid: to edit all the parameters.
- Groups: to display the count of the UI Group (Group Under).
- Parameters: to display the count of all parameters as found and displayed.
- Issues: to display the count of issues in parameters.
- Command Summary: to show how to use the window/grid and what those buttons indicate.
Only after the Save button is clicked, will all changes including additions, deletions and editions be saved back to the model. An information box will report what have been done.
If any changes are not saved to the model but the Close button or the X icon on top right being clicked, a dialog will appear to ask for confirmation.
